Hamsterley Forest

Year 4 began their Outdoor Education sessions this term with a visit to Hamsterley Forest. The weather was very cold and it had been snowing but the children remained focused and participated in all of the activities and challenges set before them. The children developed their map skills by examining maps and taking part in an orienteering activity.

The children also began examining risk assessments and managing their own risks. During this session, the children discussed the difference between hazards and risks, looked at control measures and made plans to keep themselves safe whilst learning outdoors.
