Key Information & Reminders

Thank you to all parents that attended our Christmas Stay + Play sessions and for all off the amazing nativity costumes you provided.

We decided to make a piece of art work based on Spartapuss using the moasic tiles method. Spartapuss is the main character from 'I Am Sparatapuss'. We took a photograph of  each moasic tile that was added to the picture, creating a short animation. We took a amazing 3,500 photographs to create the animation.

Our Time In Year 1

Spring Term 2019

After Christmas we decided to think about the weather in Y1. We made weather forecasts and recorded the weather over a number of weeks in our afternoon gardening sessions with Mrs Levington. It was very cold start to the year!

In class we investigated different types of extreme weather and tested a range of materials to see if they were waterproof.

The second half of the term saw s discovering facts about space. we look at all of the planets in the solar system and took part in many space crafting activities. Y1 even had a visit to the Space Dome where we found out how our weather on earth is affected by what happens in space. What fun!

We read a range of space based books such as Q Pootle 5 and Aliens In Underpants Save The World and wrote our own versions of the stories. superstar writers!

Autumn Term 2018

This term, Year 1 have taken a trip around the 7 continents to look at the animals that live there. In class we have studied Australia, Asia, Africa and Antarctica. At Outdoor Education we visited North and South America. we have had such fun this term from creating African masks and jewellery in in our Art and D.T. lessons to moving like penguins in P.E. we have worn clothing from Australia and tasted Asian and African foods. In our continuous provision we are mastering new skills in clay and modelling and extending our existing skills in painting and construction. What a wonderful term!
